So how has your Lenovo treated you over the last year?

No complaints. It's been working well.
I suppose it was a little dumb of me to buy it a few months before quitting my job, though.

business laptops, typically have some standard features... things like matte displays, a docking station port, workstation discrete graphic cards. the cases are typically not decorative or ornate.

they put more focus on security, reliability, and as shaun put it so well, function.

typical, the production quality is a bit higher in the business line machines, but usually price is also higher too.

i'm just wondering how crappy a non business laptop would be. mine probably is one, because it sucks.

Non-business laptops aren't "crappier" per se... they just focus on different areas that have better features.

A consumer laptop would have graphics cards that are better for games. They would have more/better multimedia ports, like HDMI. They would have nicer and/or brighter displays. These things aren't as important for business users, so they don't have these things, but would have different things that are better.

i guess the business ones would have that finger print reader thing, which i thought was hilarious.
